NRS Social Grade

  • The NRS Social Grade is a classification system based on occupation.

- I believe that our film opening will be most applicable to the C1 and C2 grades. This is because our film is supposed to be based towards the most popular grade of society, which in this case is the C grade. This would make people more likely to watch our film as it is made for more people. Also, many skilled manual workers are young men between 20 and 30 years old. This would be the main age group our film is made for.

Researching Fonts

In thrillers, fonts are often used for multiple purposes. The colour of a font can connote to hidden messages that the creator is trying to include, for example red font could represent danger. Fonts can also reinforce the sub-genre of the film. For example, a horror/sci-fi thriller could have a disorientated type font, reinforcing to the audience that the film is going to have the theme of insanity and death.

ANT MAN

This title can be seen to be quite effective as it is very large on the screen and in the viewers face. The font used is also very clear for the audience to see. It also clearly shows that it is a Marvel film which may make more people want to watch the film as Marvel are responsible for making great films over the years. The

Zombieland

In Zombieland, there are many different fonts used during the opening credits. Fonts are used to create different effects. Firstly, the colour of the font during the credits is red. During the sequence zombies are flying around the screen and there is blood covering it. The red font connotes danger and violence. The film is a zombie apocalypse, and by inferring the idea of violence and danger, the themes of death and action are reinforced to the audience. This will the audience and make them want to watch on. Also, during the opening credits of Zombieland, the animation of the font is key and foreshadows the future. The font falls apart as the man falls off the stairs, which foreshadows the idea that society and order is going to fall apart, because of the zombies. Finally, the font during the sequence is very formal and because of the typography the audience can infer that this film is going to be a zombie survival guide like film, which informs and excites the audience.
